Vitamin C and vitamin B6: two nutritional allies at the heart of Hymne formulas

Behind every Hymne formula is rigorous formulation work: combining functional mushroom extracts with micronutrients whose role is officially recognized by Swiss regulations. Vitamin C and vitamin B6 are among these active ingredients whose claims are listed in the positive list of the OALDal. Here's what these two vitamins actually provide — and what the law allows us to say about them.

Vitamin C: much more than a simple antioxidant

Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is one of the best-known vitamins. Water-soluble, it is not stored by the body and must be supplied daily. It is found in citrus fruits, peppers, kiwis, strawberries, and many green vegetables.

The functional claims authorized by the OALDal for vitamin C are as follows:

  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to the protection of cells from oxidative stress
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of skin
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of bones
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to normal collagen formation for the normal function of cartilage
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to normal iron absorption
  • ✅ Vitamin C contributes to maintain the normal function of the immune system during and after intense physical exercise

These claims describe normal physiological roles. They do not constitute therapeutic promises.

Vitamin B6: a vitamin with many recognized roles

Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) is a water-soluble vitamin involved in many enzymatic reactions. It is found in poultry, fish, potatoes, bananas, and legumes.

The functional claims authorized by the OALDal for vitamin B6:

  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal functioning of the nervous system
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to normal protein and glycogen metabolism
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to the regulation of hormonal activity
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to the normal function of the immune system
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue
  • ✅ Vitamin B6 contributes to normal cysteine synthesis

Again: these claims describe what vitamin B6 enables the body to do normally — not what it "cures" or "improves" beyond ordinary physiological functioning.

Why Hymne combines these vitamins with functional mushrooms

Functional mushrooms — reishi, agaricus, hericium, polyporus — do not currently benefit from recognized functional claims in the Swiss positive list. They are valued for their natural richness in bioactive compounds, within the framework of educational and transparent communication.

Vitamins C and B6, on the other hand, offer a solid and rigorous legal basis for Hymne's product communication. It is the combination of the two — the fungal richness on one side, the recognized micronutrients on the other — that constitutes the value proposition of the range.
